SINC 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award

Dr. B. Sheikh Ali

95 Years, Former Founder Vice-Chancellor, Mangalore & Goa Unviersities

Dr. B. Sheikh Ali was a student of Mysore University and retired from there after serving as a Professor of History. He was the Former & Founder Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore & Goa Universities. He was responsible for the emergence of a number of scholars in History from the University of Mysore.

A major share of his research work relates to the period of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan. He has successfully debunked the myth that Tipu Sultan was a king with religious zeal and proved that he was a secular patriot. Some of Sheik Ali’s works include “History: Its Theory and Method”, “History of the Western Ganges” (Comprehensive History of Karnataka, Volume 1, 1976), University of Mysore, Mysore. ‘Goa Wins Freedom: Reflections and Reminiscences-1986, Goa University, ‘Tipu Sultan, A great martyr’, and many more. Sheik Ali is also the chief editor for Salar, an Urdu daily.

Harekala Hajabba

Social Worker, Mangalore

Harekala Hajabba is known for the revolution he has brought in rural education within his state. He kept part of his savings from selling oranges, to start a school in the region he came from so that the children there could get educated. Today, the school, which has grown with government support and donations from private individuals, is known as Hajabba School. He is affectionately known as ‘ Akshara Santa’ (The saint of letters) in Mangalore city.

Social activist and writer Ismath Pajeer has published a book on his life, which is titled as ‘Harekala Hajabbara Jeevana Charitre’ (Life story of Harekala Hajabba). Mangalore University has included life story of Hajjabba in its latest syllabus. The British Broadcasting Corporation published an article on him with the title “Unlettered fruit-seller’s Indian education dream” in November, 2012.

He is the winner of ‘Real Heroes’ award by CNN IBN and Reliance Foundation. Kannada Prabha, a local newspaper named him their Person Of The Year.

Mamoon Akhtar

Founder, Samaritan Help Mission, Kolkata

Mamoon Akhtar 46 Years, lives in the slum of Tikiapara Howrah, India, working as a librarian in a small school on a meagre salary.

With a vision of giving a better future to underprivileged children of all the communities in the slum, he started the small charity named Samaritan Help Mission. With all his life savings he built a small school on a 600 sq ft parcel of land that his father had donated.

With only six children attending in 1999, it has now grown to include more than 800 children who participate in school as well as other activities designated for the empowerment of children and deprived girls and women.

Rehana Begum

“Snake Doctor”, Turuvekere, Tumkur

Rehana Begum, Tumkur 60 Years, she is called the SNAKE DOCTOR who has saved more than 25,000 lives in last 40 years from Snake Bites. She has offered her medicine FREE OF COST to every person who came after a SNAKE BIKE and is referred by leading doctors and hospitals !

For this ‘snake doctor’, a resident of Turuvekere, treating snake bites is a family tradition. She doesn’t resort to slicing, squeezing or freezing to remove the venom. Her magic cure: ‘Kappu’ or kajal!

She was awarded as Govt.of Karnataka Rajyotsava Award 2005 and Govt. of Karnataka Kittur Rani Chennamma Award 2014

Ms. Salma Memon, Founder – President of UMEED – A Ray of Hope for Better Tomorrow and Social Ambassador and Director of Indian Development Foundation, which is establish since 3 Decades   into humanitarian service towards society for Health, Education and Development.

She is a young Social Dynamic Girl . Her Life Circumstances itself motivates her to work for Humanitarian Service. She is blessed that she is able to do bit for the Society. she started working for the cause from the Age of 10. She is working with a leading NGO Indian Development Foundation, which is working from last 33 Years for Humanitarian Service as Social Ambassador and Director of Education Project. I have my own youth group UMEED – A Ray of Hope For Better Tomorrow which works for Orphan or one parent child for their Educational Fees,Support cancer patients,Orphan and Old Age Homes by fullfilling their need.

The Staff Selection Commission(SSC) will hold a competitive examination for recruitment of Multi Tasking Staff in Pay Band-1 (Rs 5200-20200) + Grade Pay Rs 1800, (Revised Pay Scale after 7th CPC: Pay Level in Pay Matrix – Level-1), a General Central Service Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post in various Ministries / Departments / Offices of the Government of India, in different States / Union Territories.

  1. Reservation:
    • Reservation for the Scheduled Castes (SC)/ Scheduled Tribes (ST)/Other Backward Classes (OBC) /Ex-servicemen (ESM)/ Persons with Disabilities (PwD)/ Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) etc. categories will be as per extant Govt. Orders.
    • The Commission makes the selection of candidates in accordance with the vacancies reported by the concerned User Departments for various posts.
  2. Age Limit:
    • The age limits for the posts as per the Recruitment Rules of various User Departments are:
      • 18-25 years as on 01-08-2019 (i.e. candidates born not before 02-08-1994 and not later than 01-08-2001).
      • 18-27 years as on 01-08-2019 (i.e. candidates born not before 02-08-1992 and not later than 01-08-2001).
      • Permissible relaxation in Upper age limit for different categories are
        • SC/ ST – 5 years
        • OBC – 3 years
        • PwD-10-15 years
  3. Qualification:
    • The candidates must have passed Matriculation Examination(SSLC) or equivalent from a recognized Board.
  4. Application Fee:
    • Fee payable: Rs 100/- (Rs one hundred only).
    • Fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit cards or through cash in SBI Branches by generating SBI Challan.
    • Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Ex-servicemen (ESM) eligible for reservation are exempted from payment of fee.
    • Online fee can be paid by the candidates up to 31-05-2019 (5.00 PM).
  5. Scheme of Examination:
    • The examination will consist of a Computer Based Examination (Paper-I) and a Descriptive Paper (Paper-II).
    • The dates of examinations indicated below are tentative. Any change in the schedule of examinations will be informed to the candidates through the website of the Commission.

Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) is mainly vested with the functions of Transmission of power in the entire State of Karnataka and also Construction of Stations & Transmission Lines and maintenance of 400/220/110/66 KV Sub-Stations.

Applications are invited from the qualified and eligible candidates through online mode for the recruitment of the following posts in KPTCL and Electricity Supply Company(ESCNS):-

NOTE:

  • Candidates are allowed to apply for KPTCL and any one of the Electricity Supply Companies of their choice only. Preference for selection among the two shall be given in the application.
  • Submission of more than one application for a particular post is not permissible. However, if the candidates submit more than one application, only the last application submitted by the candidates will be considered. The fee submitted for the remaining applications will not be refunded.
  • In case, the candidates applies for more than one posts and selected for more than one posts, then they will be considered for appointment to the post of their choice duly obtaining the option forms from the candidates.
  • One Common Aptitude Test will be conducted to all the candiDates applied for the posts in KPTCL various Electricity Supply Companies.
  • Candidates selected in a particular company are not eligible for Inter-company transfer/deputation to any other companies.
  • Only one application shall be submitted for Regular and Backlog Posts. Concerned selected candidates will be first considered for backlog posts
    and then for regular posts

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Qualification
    • Junior Personal Assistant:
      • Should have passed SSLC/10th Standard examination from the State of Karnataka.
      • Should have passed Senior Grade Typewriting and Senior Grade Shorthand Examinations in Kannada & English conducted by the  Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board. OR
      • Should have passed Diploma in Secretarial Practice / Commercial practice with Kannada & English Shorthand and Kannada & English Typewriting as optional (Elective) subjects granted by the Board of Technical Education in Karnataka.
    • Junior Assistant:
      • Should have PUC qualification in the state of Karnataka or Diploma in Accountancy and Auditing or Accountancy and Costing awarded by the State Council of Vocational Education, Government of Karnataka.
  2. Eligibility
    • Only the candidates who have obtained the minimum percentage of marks as prescribed below in respective qualifying examinations are eligible to apply for these posts.
      • For applicants belonging to General Merit Category – 60%
      • For applicants belonging to Category I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIB – 50%
      •  For applicants belonging to SC/ST – Pass Class
  3. Age:
    • The candidates should have attained the age of 18 Years as on the last date fixed for receipt of application and shall not be more than
      • 35 Years in case of General Merit candidates.
      • 38 Years in case of Category IIA, IIB, IA, IIB Candidates.
      • 40 Years in case of SC/ST and Category I candidates.
  4. Application Fee (Non-Refundable)
    • The application fee prescribed for applying for the said posts is as follows:
      • Rs.500/-(Rupees Five Hundred Only) in respect of candidates belonging to General Category and Category I, IIA, IIB, IIA, IIIB.
      • Rs.300/-(Rupees Three Hundred Only) in respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST Category.
  5. Online Submission of Application
    • Applications shall be submitted strictly ON-LINE in www.kptcl.com. Applications will not be accepted by any other mode.
    • The website will be kept open for submission of online applications from 05/03/2019 to 04/04/2019.
    • The last date for submission of online application is 17.00 hours (5.00 p.m.) of 04/04/2019.
    • After submitting the application ONLINE, the candidates should obtain the print-outs of Post Office challan and should pay the application fee at any e-Post Office in the jurisdiction of Karnataka and furnish the same as and when called for.
    • Last date for payment of application fee at e-Post Office is 05.04.2019.
  6. Selection
    • Recruitment to the post will be made strictly on merit based on the marks secured in the Online Aptitude Test Only, duly following the reservation policies of Government of Karnataka.
    • Recruitment to the post of Junior Personal Assistant will be made by selection strictly on merit basis on the marks secured in the Senior Grade Typewriting and Senior Grade Shorthand Examinations. Selected candidates shall qualify in the test conducted by a committee constituted by the KPTCL.
  7. Aptitude Test
    • An online Aptitude Test of two (2) hours duration will be conducted for 100 marks with multiple choice answers. Each question will carry One (1) mark. There will be negative marking and 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. There will be no marks for unanswered questions.
    • Candidates will have to appear for the Online Aptitude Test in any one of the following preferred centres:

      • Davanagere

      • Hubballi – Dharwad
      • Belagavi
      • Kalaburagi (Gulbarga)

    • Aptitude Test Syllabus:
